Some time ago I posted a photo at my author page on Facebook of the most divine and totally out of this world, scrumptious circle of decadence called a Lemon Myrtle Coconut Syrup Cake. (Can you tell how much we loved it?)

I had reason to be in Melbourne over the weekend. It was the Williamstown Literary Festival, endearingly otherwise known as the WillyLit Fest.

Recently I received a book in the mail called WOMEN OF SPIRIT written by Anne Crawford, who, amongst other things, was a former feature writer for The Age newspaper. She’s also a fellow Gippslander. (Yay! Go Gippsland authors!)

I thought I’d give you a little look at what H and I get up to sometimes when we have a little ‘down time’.

Mother's Day is fast coming upon us and I have been watching a couple of interesting conversations taking place on social media, concerning presents. Some mothers appear to want to be asked, 'What would you like for Mother's Day?'

As you may know or at least heard me mention at some stage, I can’t read rural novels while I’m writing. And as I’m head down derriere up frantically working on another book, I can’t read these fabulous new offerings that are coming out in time for Easter and Mother’s Day. But the wonderful thing is … you can!

Some time ago on my blog we had a great time talking about how something as simple as a tablespoon had become a family heirloom.

How many cookbooks are on your book shelves? If your kitchen is anything like mine, lots. But it’s the tried and true favourites like Merle Parish’s cook books, the CWA journals and the Australian Woman’s Weekly selections that I keep returning to. THE AUSTRALIAN BLUE RIBBON COOKBOOK has just joined that exclusive club.

This last weekend was spent in Melbourne. Yes, I had a book due out. Yes, I was as busy as an ant before it rains, but this was one girl’s trip not to be missed.

Thank you so much for all your enthusiasm for the launch of MA. We had a fabulous night. There's a blog post to follow with pics so if you're interested keep an eye out for that or come back to my site later today (it takes a while to load the pictures!)

Because there are so many of you lovely people who can't make it to Gippsland tonight for the launch of Mountain Ash, it's only fair that I share the joy around a little bit - so I'm giving away a signed copy of the book to anybody who would care to claim it.

Recently, after I returned from the Nunniong High Plains, I was delighted to find a letter sitting in my mailbox. It was from one of my favourite authors, a delightful girl who I met for the first time last year (it still sounds odd calling 2013 'last year'!) when I was in Fremantle, W.A.
